Information is meant to be distributed and acted on. Children from their earliest days are encouraged to ask questions to fulfill their inquisitive natures. In order for them to increase their knowledge of the natural world and of life they could either, one, gain the knowledge themselves through experience, or two, learn from the experiences of others, soaking up that individual’s own knowledge. The efficiency of learning from others is clearly preferable, but still, without application said information is useless.

The beginning sentence to this essay should actually be “Information is meant to be distributed and acted on.” For as many life hacks as there are, none of them can be properly leveraged without some form of motion. As a child, your goal is to learn as much as possible, yet, in adulthood, there’s a loss of curiosity, and importance is placed on learning only what is beneficial to one’s career or basic needs.

I could spend all day rhetorically conversing on childlike behaviors and their disappearance comes maturity, but I’d like you to take a second now to enter back into that state of question and direct it towards a topic of the utmost importance. What is the one problem you have in growing your personal brand? What about your business’ growth? Your obtaining of new knowledge?

It’s likely that you answered the first two with not enough attention or money. The latter, you probably didn’t know how to answer.

Enter, The Power of 3.

To preface, triangles have 3 points and 3 sides. The Holy Trinity in many Christian beliefs has 3 separate but like entities. There’s the idea of a third eye and 3 throughout history has been considered to be a perfect number. There’s something about it that is oddly unexplainable.

The Power of 3 isn’t an exclamatory statement, but rather a system. If your goal is to do something beneficial that is quantifiable, start by doing it 3 times. If you’re wanting to scale your personal brand, message 3 new people each day. If you’d like to build your business, make 3 sales calls each day. If you want to acquire more knowledge, read 3 pages of a nonfiction book each day.

The Power of 3 in of itself may seem insignificant, yet if you multiply it by the number of days or sets in which you apply it, the power it holds is introduced. 3 multiplied by 30 or one full month equals 90. 3 multiplied by 90, or three full months equals 270. 3 multiplied by 365, or one full year equals 1,095. Let’s direct our attention to the final number. At this point, the quantity moves from a 3-digit integer to 4-digits.

Now, you have done something over one thousand times.

You had 1,095 conversations, made 1,095 sales calls, and read 1,095 pages.

The figure begins to show more strength but by factoring in momentum there comes a point of exponential growth. Your daily efforts have begun to compound.

You alone had 1,095 conversations but there’s no counting how many people you reached when that other person tells their colleagues and friends about you and your lasting impression of increase. Imagine just for a second there was a 100% growth rate. That takes you up to 2,190 people! From 2,190 to 4,380, to 8,760, and so on and so forth. Attention scales.

You alone made 1,095 sales calls but this doesn’t factor in referrals. What if 1 in 10 people made a referral that resulted in you getting business? That’s 109 new clients not including whom out of the 1,095 you worked with already.

You alone read 1,095 pages but this doesn’t include the days you got so involved in your text that you read 10, or 50, or even a full book in a day. It’s safe to say you could knock out a dozen or more books each year by executing this methodology.

The Power of 3 mitigates failure.

The problem with many isn’t the lack of understanding, it’s the lack of curiosity.

We can all learn from the sparkle in a child’s eyes as they seem to look at the world with inexplicable curiosity. This very childish behavior is what will lead to conversation, problem-solving in business, and a desire to learn.

Although your results aren’t going to show initially, with time they’ll add up to something much bigger. The Power of 3 can seem daunting but if you attach yourself to the intended results, these steps will begin to appear smaller while simultaneously growing in importance.

Yes, only 3 examples have been given up to this point but The Power of 3’s power extends into every other problem you can think of. This is one of your solutions.

Again, I must make it known that knowledge without application is just that. Knowledge. Apply The Power of 3 to your own situations and watch the results compound.

It isn’t cause for complexities and motivational mantras. This is simply something that works.
